Please note that until the end of February, Sunday Evening Services will be held at 5pm
Your children can get into the action by joining the "International Rescue" Half-Term Holiday Club from Tuesday 13th - Friday 16th February. The club will be held 9:30am to 12noon at the War Memorial Hall, East Hanney. Everything is FREE of charge! It is for children in school years 1 to 6. For more information, click the image or contact Hanney Chapel by clicking here.
We meet at Hanney Chapel every Sunday morning at 10:30am. During the service a crèche is available and the Explorers Sunday-school is held for 4 to 6 & 7 to 11 year olds and Bible Class for the older ones. Services are also held each Sunday evening :- at 5pm up to the end of February, 6pm thereafter.
All of these meetings are open to everyone and suitable for all ages. All of them are designed to bring relevant Bible teaching and an opportunity to worship God together. The church Bibles that are generally used are the English Standard Version (ESV) and we sing from New Christian Hymns or have other songs projected on screen.
The format of each service is flexible but typically has notices, an opening hymn, a childrens talk, 2nd hymn (after which in the morning service the children go to crèche, Explorers or Bible Class), a Bible reading, prayer, 3rd hymn, sermon, final hymn and benediction. Overall, each service lasts about an hour and a quarter. We would normally sit throughout the meeting except for the hymns and the benediction. We do not take up an offering during the service but have a freewill offering box.
Generally on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month we celebrate The Lord's Supper. See our Basis of Faith for this but our practice is that this ordinance is for the Lord's people, those who have been born again of God's Spirit, who are trusting in the death of Jesus Christ as their sole means of obtaining God's forgiveness and are seeking to live a God-glorifying life. We believe the normal biblical order to be conversion, baptism, commitment to the membership of a local fellowship, and then the privileges of church membership, one of which is the Lord's Supper. If you are a visitor from another fellowship where you participate in the Lord's Supper, and if you are walking in fellowship with the Lord and with His people, then we invite you to remember with us the death of our Lord in His appointed way.
An induction loop system is operated for those hard-of-hearing. Hearing aids should be switched to the "T" or telephone position.
On Wednesdays at 7:30pm we meet for Bible Study and Prayer. The 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month are held at the Chapel, the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in members homes (or as announced). Any 5th Wednesday tends to be a Church Members Business meeting.
On the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:30am the 'Lunch & Listen' group meets. This is open to all and offers a time of informal fellowship with a brief talk, followed by lunch together.
Also on Thursdays, 6:00pm to 7:30pm, 'Jumpstart' a club for 6 – 10 year olds is held during term-time. Evenings include games, stories, activities, Bible talks and refreshments.
Our youth group meets on Fridays in term-time. As the club was very large it has now been split into two groups;
Both clubs normally meet in the Chapel and evenings include a variety of games, challenges, crafts or sport activities and a short time of Bible teaching and discussion. Refreshments are provided.
